hv10_inhand.jpgHoly smokes. Just about any camera is good enough quality for online video. But if you’re looking to have your footage look good on a high defintion TV, check out this puppy.

Did I mention it’s only $1,300? For “true HD in your pocket.”

It claims to have state-of-the-art image stabilization, but that would still be my number one worry from a camera so gloriously small. But the tiny size and tinier price are hard to pass up.

It has level and grid markers to help you keep the shot steady and to compose a shot that obeys the rule of thirds.

A Firewire jack will help you get your footage on a computer or a TV. Photos get saved to a mini SD card. Unlike most DV cams, it looks like photography wasn’t an after-thought. The Canon HV10 has a 3.1 mega-pixel camera, which gives up to 1920 x 1440 pixel resolution.

The New York Times has a good comparison of the HV10 to the Sony HC3. Read it here.

Pre-order the HV10 here.
